Skywatch Friday: Ocean City, New Jersey

I like the long days that August brings, when the moon rises high in the sky long before nightfall. The colors of the spectrum become so vibrant that it's hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins.

Watery Wednesday: Little Sebago Lake, Maine

This is Little Sebago Lake up in Maine. The view is just footsteps away from my cousin's back door. It is as peaceful and serene up there as it looks. It doesn't get any better than this.

My World Tuesday: Trees and Shadows

In Connecticut, the weather gets all mixed up this time of year. We get a little bit of everything and Sunday was no different. After a morning that started out as rain, the afternoon brought snow. This was the resulting fog on the drive home. The effect was amazing.

It Snowed Again!!!

I shouldn't be surprised. It is, after all, only February and it is New England. This is Litchfield County in its glory as the snow and rain fall on a chilly, wet Sunday afternoon. It will not be long before spring breaks and snow will be but a distant memory.

One Single Impression: Twilight

Twilight in morning
Peaceful, sleeping in your arms
Wake to light of day
*
Quiet that is ours
Twilight, before the day wakes
Harsh noise of the day!

Watery Wednesday: Candlewood Lake

This is my view of Candlewood Lake. The largest lake in Connecticut, it is man-made and boasts a 60 mile shore line spanning 4 towns in two counties. My good friend Hank once told me that all the ice is off the lake by St. Patrick's Day. Let's hope so!

My World Tuesday: A New England Scene

One of my favorite and most familiar scenes, living in Connecticut, is that of fallen logs and stone walls. It is comforting and soothing to me.

My World Tuesday: The End of Winter?

This is all that remains at the side of the road after a very long, very cold winter
in Connecticut (USA). Some call it ugly and dirty. I call it hope.

One Single Impression: (spectral) A Mother's Love

Delicate fingers surrounding cup
Graceful hands always
Small, soft and young
I feel those hands now
in the gentle breeze on my cheek
reassuring me she's there
A smile, a soft laugh
Eyes that danced
I see her in my children's faces
hear her in their laughter
reassuring me she's there
A grandmother’s kiss
A mother’s love
Another sip of tea

Skywatch Friday: A Castle in the Clouds

Not really...but my daughter's home of choice from 2010-14. With its turrets and terra cotta tiles it truly looks like you stepped into a Harry Potter novel. Complete with their mascot of the Griffin, they do indeed play quidditch!

More Kent Falls Pics!

The top photo was taken on Friday, February 6 while the temp remained below freezing.
The bottom photo was taken just 3 days later on Monday, February 9 after 2 days of 40+degree weather.
I'd be a happy camper if we'd have a warm spell--how about instead of sub-zero for a month, we hit, say, 60 and sunny?

My World Tuesday: Polar Bears

This mama bear and her cubs look lost and out of place in front of the Sherman Historical Society! Goes to show how cold it's been!
(Ice Sculptor unknown but quite talented!)

One Single Impression: (movement) Summer's Breeze

Summer’s breeze
Curtains billow
Toes wiggle
Minds wander
Bodies meld
Souls cleave
Curtains billow
Summer’s breeze

One Single Impression: Slowly

The sky is dark, the sun won't rise
Being stubborn on a cold Monday morning
January has past
February is here
Slowly the sun wakes, stretching her beaming light over the horizon
You are gone, my world is cold
The light from the sun blinds me as it rises into the sky
I await your return, the week will be long
Time moves
So slowly
